A trip to Austria in the spring would be a great vacation, especially for theater and music lovers. During the weeks from May 9 until June 15 you have the famous festival weeks in Vienna, otherwise known as Wiener Festwochen. This program runs under the direction of superintendent Luc Bondy with play director Stefanie Carp and music director Stéphane Lissner. It includes 42 productions – 4 which are premieres and 8 new productions – from 22 countries. Visit their website to see all the various shows, concerts and exhibits that you can visit during this time. This is just an extra added attraction to visiting the beautiful city of Vienna, with all it’s historical buildings and monuments, as well as palaces. Experience the wonderful Austrian food and wine, especially at a Heurigen which is a special type of restaurant serving very young wine. If you have time, take a side trip to Salzburg as well. Here you will experience a different type of city from Vienna and you might want to visit the wonderful crystal experience at the Swarovski exhibition.
