The Arizona Biltmore

arizbiltmore_400.jpgI am sad to say, I can not recommend this hotel.  The hotel is owned by Morgan Stanley and it is clearly suffering from a lack of investment.  I did not realize how spread out the property was and when I arrived the porter asked if he could take my bag - an offer I wish I hadn’t declined.  In addition, it is a bit confusing when you first arrive, so aside from having to lug my roller bag quite far I was totally lost on the way to my room.  In addition, the porter tips were included in the bill, so I paid for a service that I did not receive.  The lobby area rugs are completely stained and disgusting, as is the furniture in the rooms.  (yuk)   The rooms are old and worn and include, for some bizarre reason, a huge plastic cactus.   The hallways smell moldy and the service overall was lacking as well.  My wake up call was late (and of course I needed to get to an early meeting) and the soup they served at lunch was cold!  They had forgotten to heat the soup??

You have to feel bad for the GM who has a brand promise to fulfill and is clearly not getting the funds to be able to accomplish this.  I would love to see someone purchase this property and restore it to it’s former glory.
